President Trumps order to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program created during the Obama administration has been overturned by a federal judge. Currently, there are about 700,000 DACA recipients in the United States. A typical Dreamer, or DACA recipient, lives in Los Angeles, is from Mexico, and came to the U.S. at 6 years old.
According to the Department of Homeland Security, the majority of Dreamers are Latino, with 79% alone coming from Mexico. In a recent study by Professor Tom K. Wong and the Center for American Progress, most DACA recipients immigrated to the US at 3 years old. The median age of DACA immigrants was 6 years old.

This study, along with a different study conducted by the Migration Policy Institute, show that Dreamers are more likely to have higher-skilled, higher-paying jobs than undocumented-immigrants that were ineligible for DACA. Participation in the DACA program helps immigrants secure more white-collar occupations, as those jobs may be more likely to validate a Social Security number than some lower-skilled jobs.
